I am gluten free due to health issues, It would be very helpful if I could find out if your recipes are gluten free.

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Jo-Ann,

For any recipe that is not gluten free we will mention in the notes section whether or not their is an easy way to make it with gluten free products. Hope this helps!

I LOVE your website. I have just started Eating Clean and your recipes, tips and advice have helped so much. Thank you!

  3. stacey says:

Hi, I’m new to eating clean and I really appreciate all the information you have given. Does this get any easier and how long before you see a change.
    Thks, Stacey

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Stacey,

Thanks for dropping by! For me personally it wasn’t eating the actual food that was hard – it was finding all the extra time to cook. In the beginning I felt like I spent a lot of time in the kitchen. As the weeks went by and I found ways to make recipes that worked for multiple meals it got a lot easier. Once I had made a bunch of recipes a couple of times it seemed to get easier and easier as well and I spent far less time in the kitchen. As far as my health, I immediately felt lighter and had more energy but I think it was mostly in my mind! LOL! I personally started eating clean because I wanted to be healthier, not lose weight so my ‘change’ was reflected more in how I felt than how I looked. My husband on the other hand started eating clean and within 2 months lost 20 pounds. Everyone’s journey is different but stick with it and you’ll see results and changes. Keep in touch and let us know how it’s going for you!

Is there a cookbook associated with your site? I love your recipes and so far have been printing off the ones I love and putting them in a binder. But, I’d be thrilled if there was a cookbook available for purchase.

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Jenn,

We are actually in the process of putting together two cookbooks. They should be available sometime in 2012.

Glad to hear you are enjoying our recipes!

I have been eating clean for a little over 2 months and haven’t been able to find a great website with delicious looking recipes. Thank God my sister found this for me! We cannot wait to make some of the recipes so thank you for sharing with us!

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Angela,

Congrats on eating clean for 2 months now! We hope you enjoy the recipes that you try – let us know which ones are your favorite.

  6. Jenn says:

HI! I am so loving your recipes, but I’m having a bit of a problem. How do you keep the almond flour from sticking to the pan??

  7. claudia says:

I just want to thank you for all the great recipes! Your blog is the best clean eating one out there!!! The recipes are simple and need only a few ingredients. I go to your site for new recipes all the time. I have Tosca Reno’s clean eating cookbook but I find that a lot of recipes need too many ingredients. As a mom of 4, I don’t have time or money to get all the different ingredients required in a lot of those recipes. Thank you for making our lives so much easier!

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Claudia,

Thank you for your awesome feedback! As a very busy mom of 2 (3 if you count the hubby!) young children I don’t always feel like cooking and I rarely feel like making elaborate dishes. Simply, quick, easy and flavorful are what work in my house! We’ll be featuring a back to school recipe week coming up that will feature quick and easy grab and go recipes as well as some dinner options that you can have on the table in less than 30 minutes with minimal prep. Hopefully you’ll find some that will work for you!

      ~Sarah

  8. Cheryl says:

So glad to have found your site via pinterest. I’ve been eating clean for over a year now and am down 20 pounds. Thank you for all the wonderful recipes! Looking forward to trying new things here.

  9. CANDACE says:

The recipes sound amazing however I was wondering if they’re are any low calorie recipes for dinner? :)

  10. Tiffany says:

Is there a way you could start a blog or send out an email whenever you have a new post on your site? I have to remember to come back here and check but it would be awesome to have a regular email sent out – or even twice a month send out an email with all the new stuff that’s been added??

    LOVE THIS SITE!

  11. Larissa says:

I was wondering if you have a section that would help me know what to look for on labels. My husband and I decided we are going to eat clean and establish healthy eating habits for our family. I am lost when I go to the store and look at labels.

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Larissa,

If you’re looking for more info on reading labels go ahead and email me though our contact us page and we can work on getting your some more information.

  12. Vicki says:

I love your site, but I wish there was a way to save the recipes I want to try. I spent hours on your site finding so many dishes I want to try and by the time I created my grocery list, I couldn’t remember what dishes the list was for. Now I’m back trying to find them, but only finding more dishes I want to try. Being able to save recipes to my own recipe box would be wonderful.

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Vicki,

We now have a recipe box feature that will allow you to save all your favorite recipes in one convenient location.

  13. Michelle says:

I am brand new to clean eating, only 1 week into it….WOW I can’t believe how good I feel already. I love yogurt, greek yogurt especially. Is this considered a “clean” food?? If so is it a protein or a carb??

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Michelle,

Yogurt would be considered a protein as it’s made from milk. Yogurt is considered clean BUT you have to be very careful when purchasing yogurt. Almost all of them on the market have added sugars and preservatives. The only brand of yogurt that I’ve found that is 100% clean is Cascade Fresh Yogurt. Try checking their website for locations near you that carry it.

Is there a way to search for past recipes. There are so many great ones, and I am having a hard time digging for them on the website. Did I miss the way to search?

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Sarah,

Yes, we have a search button on the right hand side of our site. It’s right under the archives and above our Favorite Things category. You can type in a recipe or an ingredient and a list of recipes and posts will come up.

      ~Sarah

  15. lisa says:

You mention using your hand chopper….which do you use? its so hard to find one with good reviews that will stand up to some wear!

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Lisa,

You can find our list of recommend kitchen appliances under the FAQ section or on the right side of the site under our Favorite Things categories.

Hi! Just browsing through your site (as usual) and wanted to mention that my husband and I changed to a clean eating lifestyle about three months ago. He has lost 20 pounds and I have lost 15! And we are loving it. He occasionally eats something outside the parameters, and I do on a rare occasion. Like you, I found that the planning and preparing was the hardest part in the beginning, but I have learned to love cooking again just so I can make some of these awesome recipes. Thanks so much!!!

    • Sarah says:

Rise, that’s wonderful to hear! So glad you are having so much success eating a healthy diet.

Planning and prepping is definitely the hardest part in the beginning. If you can get over that initial hurdle it’s smooth sailing the rest of the time.

  17. Ryan Rivera says:

    Hello,

My name is Ryan Rivera and I have been reading your website for a while now. Yesterday, I came across this article – http://www.thenakedkitchen.com/dealing-with-stress/ and it really caught my attention because it is related to my area of expertise.

My area is helping folks with anxiety, stress, panic attacks and related issues (7+ years in the field). So it got me wondering – perhaps you’d be interested in an expanded guest article on the same, or a similar topic? I think I could provide some additional tips. Or perhaps I could cover a new topic altogether? I would be glad to contribute.

My work has been featured in local radio and TV shows, so I’m sure I can craft something that will work for you and your website. You can always turn it down – no issues. It’d be exclusive to you, around 650 words, but I can make it longer or shorter if you wish. I will also share the story with my 900+ subscribers once published.

Please let me know if you would be interested.

    Kind regards,
    Ryan Rivera

P.S. I can also send you some links to previously published articles – just let me know if you’d like to see them first.

    Hi,

I just found your site yesterday, and it looks great! I’m about to follow the Engine 2 diet (for the next month, at least) and not only is it a vegan diet – but it’s OIL FREE. For things like sauteing and roasting, I don’t think that will be a problem – but I’d like to try some of the burgers and those chili sausages you’ve posted. Do you think they’ll turn out OK if I just leave the oil out? Or is there some oil-free substitute you could suggest to use instead? I may incorporate some olive oil back in at some point – but at least for the month, I’d like to stick to it as close as possible.

Thanks so much for the great blog!! :-)

    Janis

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Janis,

I’m sorry to say that there is not an oil-free substitute for oil in our recipes. While you can definitely sauté and roast without oil, the recipes themselves will not turn out properly without the oil added in as directed. I wish I had better news!

We do have many recipes that are oil free that you can enjoy and the Engine 2 book itself has a ton of yummy recipes. I wish you all the luck in the world on this journey – you will NOT regret it!!!!

    Hi!!

I just found this and I am loving it! I begin my Master’s of Clinical Nutrition this August so I’m learning and searching for new foodie sites all the time :) I am a District Manager/Independent Consultant for Arbonne, which is a company that produces completely vegan, gluten-free, botanically based skin care, cosmetics, nutrition, aromatherapy, baby care, and detox products that are 100% top of the line. I say this because our products can enhance recipes, especially breakfast (protein powder, digestion plus, etc) and also we have great aromatherapy products that help to unwind (makes a great tip and trick). Everything is formulated without animal products and by-products, chemicals, fragrances, dyes, parabins, PABA’s, mineral oil, etc. Arbonne has the best products on the market so I have to share!

    Thanks for this site!!

    Sarah,
Your site is awesome. I love food and anything to do with it, so what more can I say.
Your “email me” button keeps trying to link me to outlook which I don’t use, so could you please email me on the address I provided, as I want to ask you a question about how you like home-schooling.
    Thank xx

    Sarah –

Stumbled across your site, can’t remember how. As a fellow Carlsbadian eating a plant-based diet, I wanted to take a friend who is retiring from the city out for lunch, found out she’s vegetarian (never knew after these years, or forgot), and was wondering if you had any local Carlsbad choices for a nice lunch out. I like Luna Grill, Souplantation, was just wondering if you had come across something I had missed.

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Glen!

I wish I could tell you that there are restaurants in the area that I know about but unfortunately I haven’t found many. You can try Peace Pies (http://peacepies.com), they are a raw restaurant in Encinitas and their food is really really good! There is also Ki’s Restaurant in Cardiff (http://www.kisrestaurant.com/jml/index.php/food-and-menus). They have a vegan and vegetarian menu and the view is wonderful. You have gorgeous ocean views as you are right off the beach. I’ve only been there for lunch so I’m not sure how their other menu items are for lunch and dinner. There is a place in San Diego that is good but other than those 2 there isn’t really much in the area.

If you find any others please share with us!!!

    Ladies,

Your “mission statement” is awesome. A positive approach to a horrific situation (meat and dairy industries), and the suffering they produce. Well done and I look forward to trying some of your great looking recipes. Again your message is a GREAT one!

  24. shannon says:

    Good Morning,
I have a question about pickles. I have seen that the addition of horseradish makes pickles crispy. Do you add the root, the greens?? Are the pickles mushy without the horseradish? Any knowledge you have on this would be appreciated:)

    Thank You,
    Shannon

    • Sarah says:

      Hi Shannon,

I’ve never heard this before so I’m not sure what part of the horseradish you add. I don’t personally add horseradish and I don’t think the pickles come out mushy at all. If you like that flavor you can easily add a bit in (probably the root) and see how it turns out. Good luck!

  27. Lana says:

Hello, i was wondering if you still had the post on meals for men……it was a post a few years back when you were “the art of clean eating” (i think that was the name) anyway i really loved that post and can not find it anymore, one of the meals was the asiago meatballs. My hubby is not on the clean eating train and so i need to make hearty meals for him that he will still enjoy / not think are overly “healthy” haha thanks!
